Glenn Hughes of The Dead Daisies
Vocalist/bass guitarist/songwriter Glenn Hughes is a true original. Known popularly as the voice of rock , Glenn started his career with Trapeze in the early 70’s and then went on to join Deep Purple. Throughout the '80s and '90s, Glenn made countless guest appearances as a vocalist, bass guitarist or songwriter on other artists' albums including a stint with Black Sabbath. Glen was also a part of BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION with guitar star Joe Bonamassa, keyboard player Derek Sherinian (Dream Theatre) and drummer Jason Bonham, son of the late Led Zeppelin legend John Bonham. In 2020 Glenn was set to become the new vocalist of The Dead Daisies. I caught up with Glen at home in LA and we spoke about the new Daisies single bustle and flow, Deep purple, Black Country communion, a possible collaboration with Tony Iommi, sobriety and what the future might hold.
